World's thinnest LCD HDTV - Sony KDL-40ZX1
August 28th 2008 09:45
Come November this year, having the biggest LCD TV in your living room won't give you the outright bragging rights with your mates anymore because no longer do TVs have to be big, have crystal clear resolution - they also need to be thin; super-thin; or to be exact, just 9.9-inches thin!
That's the thickness - albeit at its thinnest point - of the latest range of Sony's ZX1 series of LCD HDTVs. To put things into perspective, that's almost equivalent to the thickness of a gadget people all over the world have been scrambling over one another to have in their hands and pockets - the iPhone.
The Sony KDL-40ZX1 doesn't skimp out on features because of its almighty thinness - LED backlighting, 3,000:1 contrast ratio, 1.920 x 1,080 resolution and BRAVIA Engine 2 image processing means this is top-end stuff.
Obviously, some sacrifices had to be made in order to achieve these stunning dimensions so you will only find one HDMI on the screen itself while an external base station has a further 3 HDMI, 2 component, S-video, VGA, and a USB, mouse, and LAN port.
No word on price or Australian availability - the press release is in Japanese - but it could very well be a case of "if you gotta ask...". [sony.jp]
