Wallet upgraded to 2.0
October 2nd 2006 05:15
Just like how the Internet has graduated to Web 2.0 since the last bust, the traditional leather wallet has undergone a rather drastic paradigm shift in design with the introduction of the Wallet 2.0. This personal item is now available in a range of bright and cheery colors that belie the seriousness within.
Each Wallet 2.0 comes in a soft silicone case which can bend easily. The traditional compartments within have disappeared - instead, you store all your cash, bills, receipts, cards, and coins in special transparent cases which are labelled appropriately. Wallet 2.0 essentially organizes the content of your wallet into different folders.
So far, five sheets are available and they are bills, coins, ID, credit cards, and other, with plans to incorporate more sheets in the future.
Several shortcomings would be the hassle of opening up the Wallet 2.0 like a container and then removing the corresponding folder, which is a waste of time for people whose time is at a premium. There's no point in having such a flexible body either as anyone who inserts credit cards and rewards cards will end up with a sore tush instead.
Definitely not one for those in power suits as they will most probably stick with the standard black leather wallet which exudes a timeless charm. I forsee the younger generation picking up this container-like wallet instead. There is no word on pricing or availability at the moment.
