Helmet that puts a smile on your face
October 11th 2006 13:53
Check out this nifty homebrew device that puts a smile on your face whether you like it or not. The Smiling Helmet, as it is called, comes with a sensor located in front of the helmet which is capable of detecting a person within a 2 meter radius. Upon detection, a small servo motor will pull the mouth into a broad grin which will rival that even of politicians.
This helmet is intended to address the facades of social interaction while exploring our response to affected expressions.
Definitely one for air attendants as well as those in the customer service line should it ever enter production. Check out the video of the smiling helmet in action here. I don't know about you, but it sure as heck look like some sort of medieval torture device.
