Sip of Light straw
April 12th 2008 00:30
No, this isn't your ordinary take-away coffee cup from Starbucks - not unless yours comes with a built-in LED!
This particular gadget designed by Sung-Kyu Nam, Su-Jung Kim and Sang Hoon Lee is called the Sip of Light straw which is essentially a portable light source in the shape of a paper coffee cup. It's damn easy to use - bend the straw to turn it on and straighten it to turn it off - and provides adequate light via the strong LED bulb.
It's never going to be strong enough to read a book - not that it's going to stop naughty teenage boys from using it to read dirty magazines under the bed covers - if the health of your eyes is a priority, but it seems good enough to use as a bedside lamp for when you need to get up in the middle of the night for a trip to the loo.
