Philips Imagination Light Canvas
February 29th 2008 22:45
Philips Electronics has unveiled its first "Imagination Light Canvas" at the New Mercy Medical Center in the US.
The canvas is basically an interactive light wall - 14 feet long and 6 feet high - that uses touch screen and some funky Philips technology to animate a staggering 1,420 LEDs (Light Emitting Diode) while consuming daily energy equivalent to a toaster!.
Using an entire spectrum of colours and shapes, light can be 'painted' by the bare hand and will last a few minutes before they disappear. The Imagination Light Canvas can accommodate up to six people drawing at the same time, and is a gift from Philips employees to the patients and staff of the new hospital.
Paul Zeven, CEO of Philips Electronics North America said: "We wanted our gift to harness some of our advanced technologies that would provide the area residents with a positive, healing experience, delivered in a simple, easy-to-use manner, in keeping with our brand promise of 'Sense and Simplicity."
I reckon this is an interesting stress reliever for visitors and patients alike.
