The folding universal scale

April 21st 2008 08:30
Foldable universal scale

If you've been out shopping for some scales lately, you'll find that there isn't much variation at all. The analogue scales are deemed too old school these days so all you'll find are ones with digital read outs and while some have funky glass designs, they're still hardly inspirational at all but why the complaints I hear you say? Afterall, if it gives you an accurate reading of your weight then it has done its job, right?

Foldable universal scale

True. But only to a certain extent because there's ways a scale can do its job even better. For one, it seems that most flat scales for home use are only catered for those that can stand on them. And let's say you've given your home a recent makeover and your new bathroom is as chic as they come - designer taps, shower heads, toilet etc. - but lurking in the corner, is a plain white scale that completely ruins all the chic-ness.

Well, there is now a solution in the form of a very funky and foldable universal scale by designer Shu-Hung Yeh. The Universal scale unfolds into all shapes/sizes (as you can see in these pictures) to make weighing an absolutely breeze for people of all sizes and abilities/disabilities plus it certainly matches that chic decor! The Fujitsu 705i G3 Mobile

The Fujitsu 705i in dry dock

How many times have you been sitting and soaking in a bubble bath, your all lathered up and then the mobile rings. You answer it but because of the soap hands it drops in the tub. Or, your sailing and as the boat lists over the mobile ends up sliding into the drink?

Evidently a lot of phones are destroyed every year from water damage. Now the inventive people at Fujitsu have solved the problem, introducing the F705i G3 Mobile Phone, the latest in waterproof communication technology.

Going down without a scuba tank

Super slim at 1.37cm thick, this handset can be dunked in a metre of water for up to 30 minutes without self destructing. Featuring super clear voice and mike abilities this nifty new mobile automatically adjusts its inbound and outbound volume to allow for your voice level and ambient noise.

Armed with a 1.3 megapixel camera and 8 times quick zoom, you can shrink or enlarge text with the touch of button. The battery at full charge facilitates 170 minute of talk time and allows for up to 100 minutes of video calls.

Now for the bad news, the Fujitsu F705i is only available in Japan at the moment. Don’t hold your breath, searching the net there is no scheduled release for Australia or the U.S at present. One would hope though that such a practical invention will eventually come to the shores of the western world.

Radio controlled Flying Cockroach

Cockroaches are nasty little critters that gives a lot of people the creeps with their shiny exoskeletons giving off a false impression of sliminess. They dart around like they're on steroids and have a tendency to run and hide rather well just when you're about to squat them
