Measuring less than 1-litre in size, the Eee Box is powered by an Intel Atom N270 (1.6 GHz) processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, an 80GB hard drive, multi-card reader (SD/SDHC/MS/MS Pro/MMC), 802.11n WiFi and gigabit Ethernet and runs on Microsoft Windows XP Home. HP TouchSmart IQ500 series

If you're a fan of great looking yet functional PCs, you'll be interested in the new generation of all-in-one PCs by HP that will change the way people interact with their computers.

The HP TouchSmart IQ500 series features a brilliant touchscreen software which allows users to finger tapped or brush/sweep across the high-resolution screen for quick access to information, entertainment and social networks without having to use a keyboard or mouse.

The PC is stylishly designed to resemble the lines of a messenger bag (just 2.6" thick!) and requires only one cord to set up and power the system and 22-inch LCD diagonal, high-definition, widescreen display.

The new TouchSmart systems are available in two models - IQ504 and IQ506 - and both feature a Intel Core 2 Duo T5850 2.16GHz processor, NVIDIA GeForce 9300M HS 256MB, 500GB HDD, 802.11n WiFi. The only difference between the two models is the IQ506 is equipped with a TV-tuner.

Prices are expected to start at US$US1,299 and US$1499 for the IQ504 and IQ506 respectively. [hp.com]

Aroma USB

This isn't your typical USB thumb-disk. It is called the Aroma USB and it's a fragrance dispenser that uses the power from your PC to heat and dispense the scent from the changeable and refillable fragrance cartridge fitted inside the casing.

Aroma USB

The fragrance level is adjustable with a single refill lasting up to a week of use although it would've been more sensible to say how many hours of use in between refills. Available in a range of shapes, designs and colours, the Aroma USB sure is an interesting concept in getting rid of bad smells.

Check out the following video to see how the Aroma USB works:

Panasonic launches new e-book reader

September 27th 2006 01:00
Panasonic Word Gear
Well, well, what do we have here? Panasonic has dropped a new e-book reader called Word Gear. This device is meant for lazy people who want to relax their eyes while being immersed in the latest thriller written by John Grisham. Either that, or they're just plain lazy to thumb through a novel. The Word Gear e-book reader comes with a 5.6" touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 which makes it easy on the eyes. A SD memory card slot is included for you to store all your e-books on the world's most popular card storage format. The Word Gear measures 105mm x 18.5mm x 152mm and weighs 325g, making it heavier than some paperbacks.

Here's a quick question - do you guys prefer reading books in the electronic format, or is there more satisfaction derived from turning the page yourself while sipping on a Pina Colada? I personally prefer sticking to good ol' paperbacks, but electronic newspapers are fine for me
