Bluetooth-enabled timepieces
September 28th 2006 16:02
Most people don't wear watches these days as their primary method of telling the time is through the use of their cellphones. This pervasive attitude has led many to think of watches as relics of the previous generation.
Thankfully, Fossil and Sony Ericsson has worked together to produce updated watches that come with a twist - they are equipped with Bluetooth connectivity which comes with Caller ID capability as well as allowing you to reject or mute the call if the situation calls for it.
Of course, you realize that the best way to maximize a Bluetooth watch's useability would be picking up a Bluetooth headset as well. If you don't, then the Bluetooth watch's caller ID feature is pretty redundant as you've got to refer to the cellphone to know who's calling you anyway - and through there, you can also see the time which effectively renders the dual functionality of a Bluetooth watch useless.
This new line of Bluetooth watches are compatible with most offerings from the Sony Ericsson stable. The Fossil version comes with a recommended retail price of $250, while the Abacus style models will retail for $50 less. All three watches are expected to hit the market in October.

Right now I am wearing a $50 (AUD) watch, it uses kinetic energy to wind itself up so doesn't rely on any electricity. simply put, so long as my heart keps tickin so does my watch. It also keeps the day of teh month too, but it has to be reset after each month, its just an added bonus really.
I love it more than any bluetooth enabled thingamagic. does what its supposed to, no more no less.
