Apple Macbook Air: The World's Thinnest Notebook
January 21st 2008 22:30
Apple recently unveiled the world's thinnest notebook computer at Macworld 2008 with the Macbook Air.
With a height of just under 2cm and weighing 1.36kg, this computer is seriously thin and light yet still boasts a 13.3-inch (diagonal) glossy widescreen TFT LED backlit display and backlit key illumination for its full-size keyboard - there's also an oversize multi-touch trackpad that works a treat for fingers.
The Macbook Air is far from "all show and no go" with its 1.6GHz (1.8GHz optional) Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 4MB on-chip shared L2 cache running at full processor speed and 2GB of 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM onboard.
Storage comes in the form of an 80GB 4200-rpm Parallel ATA hard disk drive or Optional 64GB solid-state drive or Optional external USB MacBook Air SuperDrive.
The MacBook Air is available for pre-order at a starting price of $2499 with first models shipped to customers next month.
